ONE of Huddersfield's historic houses is to open its doors to the public for only the second time.
Unless you have a large home, select home furniture and accessories on a small scale. They'll fit into most spaces as you move them around in your home. This will also make them easier to move. This applies to living room sets, kid's furniture, and office furniture. For living room sets, it is important that you consider your family's lifestyle in terms of your use of the living room. Do you often use this area of the room for lounging and rest? Do you have pets that you bring to the sofa? Considerations such as these are important. Living room sets with double cushions give you that soft and comfortable resting spot. Choose something that will fit the size of your family comfortably. Also, choose a set that will last you for a long time. Living room sets are expensive these days, so choose quality lines like Ashley furniture for instance.Another tip for choosing versatile home furniture is that, when furnishing a living room or family room, choose 2 loveseats rather than one huge sofa. They'll be easier to move and can be used forming a corner seating area, opposite each other to create a conversation spot, or separately in different rooms of your home.Tours of Briar Court, at 28 Occupation Road, Lindley, will be available on September 10 and 11, courtesy of the Edgar Wood Heritage Group.
Briar Court, which was acquired by the Huddersfield Corporation in 1946, has been used for several purposes including a children's home. But the house's features, including furniture designed by Wood, remain intact. Tickets will be available on both opening days and tours will run from 11am to 3.30pm.
